R.A.F.D.E.L. WASHINGTON.

For Welsh From Bradley.   Further to my 10th March Air C.-in-C. A.E.A.F, has now decided that for technical reasons connected with sparking plug maintenance 150 Grade Fuel will not repeat not be used by A.E.A.F in the “Overlord” area.

2.    Further trials will be carried out by A.D.G.B in order to provide wider range of flight experience and when proved satisfactory it is intended that 150 Grade will be used by A.E.A.F. from airfields in U.K.

3.    Resulting from the above there is of course a much reduced requirement of the new fuel in packages and I do not consider that we are now justified in continuing with the proposed importation of 20,000 tons of packed 150 Grade from United States, involving as it would the provision of specially adapted dry cargo ships at this particularly vital time.

4.    We deeply appreciate your efforts and American co-operation in arranging the supply, which, however, can no longer be regarded as an urgent operational necessity and should, therefore, be cancelled.
