1. | The ram calibration
as flown over the test course was plotted taking into account
compressibility and was used to convert the indicated level speeds
|
|
2. | The graph shows speed
performance with n=2400 RPM and n=2700 RPM obtained before the
implementation of the planned fuselage modifications on this machine to
improve performance.
Important points are:
|
|
| Speed at Sea Level with combat power VwKC = 318 mph (512 km/h)
Speed at Sea Level with take-off power VwKC = 327 mph (526 km/h)
|
|
| Speed at full throttle height with combat power (5600 m) VwKC = 362 mph (582 km/h)
Speed at full throttle height with take-off power (6150 m) VwKC = 376 mph (605 km/h)
|
|
| After completion of the test
flights the engine, Serial No. 328909, failed due to supercharger
damage and was changed. Repetition of speed performance check is therefore
necessary.
|
|
3. | During flight testing with the
mock-up of the Panzerblitz installation it was established, that there
was no significant negative impact on the flight characteristics
resulting from either the slide rails rack alone, or the rack with
bombs attached.
The take-off with and without flaps as well as the landing with
loaded installation was quite normal.
In level turning flight with combat power the aircraft starts dropping a wing
at Va = 265 ./. 260 km, and in horizontal flight with engine
idling starts dropping the nose at Va = 200 ./. 190 (landing gear and flaps in) or Va = 172 km/h
(landing gear and flaps out). In dives, where a Va = 735 km/h was reached, a slight disturbance of the ailerons was noted, at the same time
a movement of the outer racks (wood) was observed.
An adverse effect on the attack run, even if this phenomenon occurs
with the real installation, is not to be expected.
|
|
| As can be seen from the speed
comparison chart, the loaded Panzerblitz installation compared to the
normal condition results in a loss of speed of Δ V = 50 ./. 53 km/h
with combat power. After dropping the bombs, the aircraft is about 10
./. 11 km/h faster.
|
|
4. | Several landings were recorded
with the BSK 16 gun camera for use as an instructional film.
The normal camera setting to R.B.A. had to be modified for this purpose
to obtain the horizon reference line as well as three-point landing
with the aircraft.
